2007 North Dakota AQHA 3-Year
Old Reining Futurity
Champion

Jaz GC Dakota Joe
comes directly
off the Jaz Ranch in
Joseph, Oregon. We
specifically
selected him, as a
weanling, based on
their reputation for
a quality breeding
program. (See
their website at
www.jazranch.com)
“Dakota Joe’s”
breeding represents
the best of true
Foundation breeding.
His dam, Jaz Ms.
Mouse, is 100%
foundation and 39.6%
Poco Bueno. She is
an own daughter of
Little Steel Dust, a
grullo stallion that
was the “claim to
fame” for the Jaz
Ranch program.
Dakota Joe’s
sire, Pocos Gray
Comet, was 100%
NFQHA Foundation,
25% Poco Bueno, and
triple bred Red Dog.
Dakota Joe is
the natural result
of bloodlines that
produce
exceptionally quiet
dispositions,
rational minds, and
great athletic
ability. As you can
see from the video
we've provided here,
he is exceptionally
calm and has a good
mind.
Dakota Joe
was the Reining
Champion for the
North Dakota AQHA
Futurity for
Three-Year-Olds. His
trainer really
enjoys working with
him, both because of
his athleticism and
gentlemanly
disposition, and has
started throwing a
rope off him this
summer.
In all of our
experience with
horses, over 50
years, we are really
proud of this young
stallion. You’re
going to be hearing
a lot about him as
he continues to
compete. The best of
everything – that
beautiful grullo
color (with no
white) and, without
a doubt, the nicest
disposition we’ve
seen in a young
stallion!

KP Flashy
Jack is our
double-bred
Two Eyed
Jack
Stallion.
"Duke" is a
carbon copy
of the
original Two
Eyed Jack
and passes
these traits
consistently
to his
babies.
He is a
gentleman
around the
other
stallions
and
geldings.
Duke is
copper
sorrel in
color with
four white
socks/stockings.
He throws a
lot of color
but you can
almost bet
on at least
two white
socks! |

We found KP
Flashy Jack
(Duke) at
the
Peckenpaugh
Ranch in
southeastern
South
Dakota.
We visited
the ranch
with some
friends who
were looking
for a Two
Eyed Jack
bred
stallion.
The first
time we saw
him, he was
running
through a
corral in
knee deep
mud from all
the rain.
We were
really
impressed
with the way
he looked
and the way
he seemed to
"float"
around that
corral,
never
missing a
step in the
mud.
Even though
we weren't
looking for
a stallion,
we bought
him and
brought him
home.
This is the
same way it
is with
Duke's
offspring.
Many of our
buyers have
told us they
didn't
intend to
buy a horse.
But when
they see
them, they
are so
impressed
with the
total
package that
they buy
them and
take them
home, just
like we did
with Duke.
We've been
told our
herd is one
of the best
kept secrets
in the
region.
Duke crosses
three times
to Two eyed
Jack, with
Two eyed
Jack right
on his
papers.
He looks as
if he just
stepped out
of the
Legends
of Quarter
Horses
with the
classic
quarter
horse build.
He
consistently
out-produces
himself and
crosses very
nicely with
the
broodmares
we've
selected,
throwing
palominos,
red roans,
grays, bays
and of
course
sorrels.
Two years
ago, we had
an orphan
foal that we
bottled-fed
for a couple
of months.
After she
was weaned,
we put her
in with Duke
for
companionship
for the rest
of the
summer.
We found out
after the
fact that it
is unusual
for a
stallion to
"adopt" a
weanling
like that!
There are a
lot of
horses with
good looks
and good
bloodlines,
but they
have to be
bred for
disposition
as well. |
